Community Foundation coach Kris Tavender was named Community Coach of the Year at this afternoon’s Premiership Rugby Parliamentary Community Awards at the House of Commons.
Tavender beat off competition from Bath Rugby Foundation outreach officer Joe Aygul and Sale Sharks Community Trust inclusion officer Vicky Irwin, to scoop the prestigious award – and chief community officer Ben Breeze paid tribute to ‘the most committed and inspirational coach’ he has worked with.
“Kris Tavender really is one in a million. He single-handedly convinced Bristol Rugby Community Foundation and Bristol Rugby of the clear and identified need for a special educational needs, disability and inclusion provision.
“He’s an amazing man and he has to be the most committed, passionate and dedicated coach I’ve ever worked with.
“Kris has literally changed the lives of hundreds if not thousands of young and older people across the Greater Bristol region and we’re tremendously proud of him.”
