Bristol Rugby are delighted to reveal that utility forward Sam Jeffries has penned a two-year extension to remain with the club until 2020.
The 24 year-old – who can play at lock and back row – graduated through the Bristol Rugby Academy and has established himself as a key member of Pat Lam’s team.
Following a debut in 2015, the Bristol University graduate shot to prominence during the 2016/17 Aviva Premiership campaign with a string of eye-catching performances.
“Sam is an excellent team man who has taken every opportunity that has come his way."
“Sam embodies the Bristol Rugby vision – he’s a young English player who has come through our Academy system and has all the ingredients to be an international standard player, if he continues to work hard,” Head Coach Pat Lam told bristolrugby.co.uk.
“Sam is an excellent team man who has taken every opportunity that has come his way. He always shows humility and is a positive ambassador for Bristol Rugby. He’s an example to all students and Academy players of what can be achieved if you show dedication and a tenacious attitude.”
Jeffries – who has also represented England Students - has made fourteen appearances for the club.
He added: “This season under Pat [Lam] and the coaching team has been excellent and the players are really enjoying the culture and the positive mentality.
“It was an easy decision to commit to Bristol Rugby – it’s a club that gave me an opportunity in professional rugby, but also an environment that encourages players to progress and improve.
“I’m personally ambitious – I want to play in the top flight and I believe that I can achieve my goals with Bristol Rugby.”
