The 2006-07 Bristol Rugby squad were once again led by inspirational skipper Matt Salter.

Tipped for relegation by the vast majority of pundits before the season had even started, Bristol stunned the rest of the Guinness Premiership by leading the table for many weeks and eventually finished in third place before bowing out in the playoff semi final to Leicester.

Bristol Rugby Squad 2004-05
2004-5 was the first season where the coaching team of Richard Hill and Martin Haag actually had the opportunity to recruit a squad in good time and embark on a proper preseason campaign. Former Bristol players like Ross Blake, Jim Brownrigg, Darren Crompton, Jon Pritchard and Matt Salter were close season signings.

They were joined by Jason Strange and Ed Pearce in the summer and Richard Hill added to the squad as the season progressed with Bernardo Stortoni becoming "The People's Player".

Squad 2002-03
Despite the key losses of Jason Little, Dean Ryan and Jack Rowell during the close season, Bristol entered the 2002-03 season in high spirits.

After all, Peter Thorburn was leading them into Heineken Cup action for the first time in their history and was working with a star studded squad.

However, despite the arrival of Kiwi Daryl Gibson midway through the season and some memorable European wins, the 2002-03 campaign would end in tears.

Squad 2000-01
Bristol started 2000-01 after a relatively quiet post season with only Leigh Davies, Kris Fullman, Neil McCarthy and Ben Sturnham added to the squad.

It had been more eventful off the pitch and Bob Dwyer would move on to be replaced by Dean Ryan who started to fashion a team of his own making.

Felipe Contepomi would join the team in mid season and the emergence of Alex Brown as a lineout jumper was a real highpoint in what proved to be a relativley disappointing campaign.

Bristol Rugby entered the season as overwhelming favourites for relegation from the Guinness Premiership and an immediate return to National League Division One.

Head Coach Richard Hill avoided bringing in big name signings on huge wages & assembled a hugely experienced squad.

He also recruited cannily from National League Division One with Perry, Robinson and Ward-Smith all having an impact throughout the season.

Squad 2002-03
After the turbulent events following the club's relegation from the Zurich Premiership in May 2003, Academy Coach Peter Johnson hastily assembled a squad largely made up of the club's U21 squad and captained by Bristol 'old boy' Dave Hilton.

Richard Hill and Martin Haag arrived in the summer and set about forging a competitive squad mixing their youngsters with some canny signings.

The team finished in a respectable mid table and lifted the Powergen Shield.

Squad 2001-02
The club entered the 2001-02 season known as the Bristol Shoguns thanks to a 5 year sponsorship deal with Mitsubishi Motors.

The team was captained by Jason Little and featured exciting young talent in the form of Andrew Higgins and Phil Christophers.

The season ended on a high note with an appearance in the Zurich Championship final at Twickenham which clinched a first ever spot in the Heineken Cup.
