Lock takes positives in defeat

Glen Townson has called on his teammates to remain upbeat despite a 22-7 defeat at the hands of London Welsh on Sunday.

“We didn’t take our chances and against top-quality sides you need to do that"

Bristol – who enjoyed the majority of possession during the contest - conceded three tries at the Kassam Stadium to slip to defeat.

“Our inaccuracy cost us on Sunday. We turned over three or four balls in our 22 and they were clinical,” the lock told bristolrugby.co.uk.

“We didn’t take our chances and against top-quality sides you need to do that because you won’t get too many.

“Our philosophy is to attack but London Welsh put us under pressure defensively. On another day we might have kicked the posts, but we were confident in our set-piece.

“The attacking mindset is something the coaches are embedding in the squad and we’re all buying into it. We’ll get the rewards from it if we keep improving, the season isn’t won or lost in November.”

“We need to take the positives from the game because we can’t stay in a dark place. We’ll turn up for training ready to go again.

“We’re frustrated, but we can’t dwell on it because we have a big game on Sunday and we need to get better for it.”
