Hall names 23-man squad for Munster clash

Bristol Academy U20s face a strong touring Munster U20s side at Clifton RFC’s Cribbs Causeway ground on Tuesday (7.30pm KO).

Academy Manager Mike Hall has selected a 23-man squad made up of full-time Academy, university and Combination Club players.

First year Academy members Jack Hughes and Auguy Slowik are named in the backline, while Steve Uren will start in the back row.

Ellis Genge – who returned from the England U18s tour to South Africa on Monday – is included among the replacements.

Nick Carpenter is not considered, having played three games in ten days for England U18s, while Callum Braley is also unavailable.

Lock Joe Joyce is ruled out of action for up to a month following knee surgery on Friday.

“We’ve picked a talented squad of players with a good mixture of Academy, Combination, university and college players – I’m keen to follow the progress of these individuals over the next few years,” said Hall.

“It’s a great opportunity for these guys to pull on the Bristol jersey and represent the Club, as well as giving the supporters a chance to see the future talent in action.

“Munster will bring a very competitive squad, so we expect a tough test. They have a fantastic culture and tradition and we’re honoured to welcome Munster to Clifton RFC on Tuesday.

“On behalf of Bristol Rugby, I wish them all the best for their pre-season tour.”

Entry to Tuesday’s fixture is free, so please come along and support the U20s.
