Sherratt: It Was A Positive Display
Academy Coach praises ten try win
Matt Sherratt praised the attacking intent shown by his players after watching Bristol Rugby score ten tries to beat Aberavon 64-8 at the Memorial Stadium.
"We started to show what we can do and it was great to see the players backing their skills in all conditions"
The victory extends Bristol’s 100% record in the competition and sets up a winner-takes-all clash versus Leeds Carnegie on Saturday.
“It was a different Aberavon side to the one we faced in December, as we expected,” the Academy Coach told bristolrugby.co.uk.
“They were freshly motivated and we took a while to get going, which is understandable after a week without a game.
“When we did hit our stride, we played some really good stuff. Although we petered out a little at the end, overall, I was pleased with the positive display.
“The weather turned in the second half, so to score that many points in those conditions was particularly pleasing. We started to show what we can do and it was great to see the players backing their skills in all conditions.
“It was always going to come down to the trip to Leeds. They’re a quality side and we’ll prepare well for the game in training this week.
“We’ll go to Headingley with plenty of confidence after Sunday’s win, but we know that there is more to come from us as well so we’ll keep working hard.”
