Sambucetti: Home Form Is Key For Us

Lock forward sets sights on victory over Leeds

Mariano Sambucetti has called on his team-mates to continue their fine form at the Memorial Stadium when Leeds Carnegie visit the West Country on Friday (7.45pm KO).

Bristol have recorded six straight home victories in all competitions since a narrow loss to Moseley in late September.

And the lock-forward, one of the Club’s most consistent performers so far, admits the players are determined to return to winning ways in the RFU Championship.

“We’re really looking forward to the challenge of Leeds Carnegie,” said Sambucetti. “The boys are itching to get back out there after the disappointment of the Cardiff postponement.

“Everybody is fresh and raring to go. Leeds are in good form and we expect a huge test. They’re a physical side and we will need to match that on Friday.

“We started slowly against them at Headingley earlier in the season and we got punished. We’re determined to atone for that defeat, but we’ll need to start well.

“Our home form has been good – we never want to lose in front of our fans at the Mem and we want to extend that record against Leeds.

“The Bristol supporters have been excellent as ever throughout the campaign, we’ll need them behind us this weekend for one of our biggest games so far.”
