Andy Robinson admitted that missed tackles proved costly after watching his side fall to a second successive defeat in the Greene King IPA Championship.

"We can’t defend the way we did on Sunday and expect to win games"

Bristol suffered a 22-28 defeat at the hands of Leeds Carnegie at the Memorial Stadium, although the hosts did clinch two losing points.

“You have to make the tackles, if you don’t, you won’t stop opposition teams scoring – it’s as simple as that,” the Director of Rugby told

“They scored four converted tries. We got over the line four or five times without scoring and didn’t take our chances. That’s the game. We can’t defend the way we did on Sunday and expect to win games.

“It’s frustrating for everybody. We dropped off tackles and we can’t afford to do that. Credit to Leeds, they were the best side we’ve faced all season. The way they moved the ball was excellent, so well done to them.

“We really need to look at areas of our game after that. We want to be in the play-offs at the end of the season, so picking up those two points is important.

“It was a great finish from George [Watkins] to get us that losing bonus point at the end, but ultimately we’ve got to keep looking at how to improve our defence.”
