Jersey visit the West Country

Jersey visit the Memorial Stadium on Sunday looking for a first victory under new Head Coach Harvey Biljon (3pm KO).

The Channel Islanders, who have won just once in their last nine Championship fixtures - a 27-25 victory over Cornish Pirates at St Peter in November – saw former Director of Rugby Ben Harvey resign in November following a 18-28 reversal to Ealing.

Harvey had been in charge on the Island since April 2008, taking Jersey from level five to the Championship in three seasons.

Jersey's Forwards Coach Steve Boden took interim charge at the start of December, and the New Year saw the appointment of South African Harvey Biljon, who joined from Cornish Pirates, where he had been Assistant Coach since 2009.

January saw some encouraging signs for Jersey supporters: a creditable bonus point in defeat (by 26-33) to leaders London Welsh, followed by a 37-19 cup success over Ulster Ravens.

Last weekend, Jersey went down 22-35 to high-flying Rotherham Titans and, following Sunday’s clash with Bristol, face a crucial encounter against Nottingham at St Peter (Feb 8).
