PREVIEW: Ealing Trailfinders

Published on 28th March 2014 by Tom Tainton

Ealing currently bottom of the table

Ealing's hopes of surviving relegation were boosted by a nailbiting 25-23 win over Jersey last weekend - the Trailfinders' first home victory of the Greene King IPA Championship campaign.

Nine points separate Ealing and the Channel Islanders, but the Vallis Way outfit fought back from 17-5 down to secure the invaluable win.

Prolific winger Phil Chesters ran in his eleventh try of the campaign to help his side record only a third victory all season.

The result ends a run of four straight league defeats which left Ealing firmly rooted to the foot of the table.

In atrocious conditions in December, Bristol secured an attritional 21-7 win in West London, despite falling behind early on.

Two members of the Ealing pack, Gavin Curry and Tim Brockett, represented Bristol Rugby in the B&I Cup during the 2010/11 season.

Following Sunday's game, Ealing host Nottingham (Apr 12), before a trip to Plymouth Albion (Apr 19).
