Bristol Rugby have appointed Eoin Power as Academy Physiotherapist ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.

The 26 year-old joins the Club after successfully completing an internship within the medical department.

Having formerly worked as a Physiotherapist with the Craig Bellamy Foundation in Sierra Leone, Power will work with the Academy players to monitor and aid athletic development.

“It’s my job to ensure that the player’s potential is fulfilled,” he explained. “That includes physical injury prevention and medical preparation.

“Currently, I’m ironing out movement issues and looking at previous injuries that the guys have experienced before moving into the full-time professional environment.

“Essentially, we’re trying to injury-proof our young players to ensure they will be available regularly for selection in future.”

And Power, who studied at University College Dublin and Southampton University, told he is delighted to join the Club on a full-time basis.

He added: “Bristol Rugby is a fantastic place to work in. It’s a progressive environment and I really enjoyed the four months I spent here last season.

“The playing squad are fantastic and the staff are friendly. It’s a family atmosphere, with everybody striving for the same goal. I’m looking forward to working with the Academy and coaching staff.”
