Head Coach pleased with physical condition

Liam Middleton praised the fitness levels of his squad after Bristol Rugby scored three second half tries to seal a convincing 32-8 victory over Bridgend on Saturday.

The win – Bristol’s third in the B&I Cup this season – keeps the Club top of Pool 1 with a 100% record in the competition.

“I’m really pleased – it was a solid performance,” said the Head Coach. “We kicked on well in the second half and our fitness levels shone through late on.

“The squad is in very good physical condition and that showed on Saturday. There were some top individual performances out there and I thought we played some positive rugby.

“We found some momentum in the second half after a slow start, but we addressed that at half time. There is more that we can work on, today wasn’t a perfect performance, but the guys came through nicely.

Bristol face Bridgend for the second time in six days when the Ravens visit the Memorial Stadium on Friday evening.

Middleton added: “This competition has been useful for us as a team. We’ve shown our ambitions with some good results, and we want to make winning something that we aspire to every week.

“It’s a short turnaround before Friday and we will go again. It’s always tricky playing the same side back-to-back, but we have confidence from this win to take into the next game.”
