Hobson: We'll Work Hard For Each Other

Prop relishing stern encounter at Brickfields

Jason Hobson expects a bruising encounter when Bristol Rugby face high-flying Plymouth Albion at Brickfields on Saturday (3pm KO).

And the influential prop – who made his return to first team action against Jersey after long-term injury – says he is delighted to be back involved.

“It’s great to be playing again, especially after a long spell on the sidelines,” he said. “It can be frustrating to watch when you’re itching to be out there alongside your teammates, so I’m happy to be back in the mix.

“We were pleased with the result against Jersey, although we know that there is lots still to work on. The set-piece functioned well and we deserved the victory, hopefully we can push on from that result now.

“We perhaps haven’t found our stride yet this season, but that hasn’t affected the confidence among the squad. We know that we’re a good side and that we’re capable of putting a run of results together.

“At this point, all we can do is focus on the next game – in this case, Plymouth Albion. They’ve had a good start to the season and they will be fired up on the weekend.”

Bristol have never lost to Plymouth Albion in the RFU Championship – a record that Hobson is eager to extend.

“We’ve got a decent record at Brickfields and we’re always well supported by travelling fans down there, which certainly helps,” he added.

“Plymouth have been playing some very good rugby and they have a very physical pack. We’ll need to match them up front and work hard for each other.

“If we can replicate a similar performance to Jersey then the squad are full of belief that we can achieve the right result.”
