Goodridge: We Need A Strong Display
Full back relishing South-West derby at the Mem
Jon Goodridge has urged his teammates to capitalize on home advantage when Plymouth Albion visit the Memorial Stadium on Sunday (4.05pm KO).
And the full-back – who made his return to first-team action in the victory over Jersey – expects a fiery encounter in the South-West derby.
“Plymouth is another tough test for us this weekend,” he said. “They’re full of confidence on the back of an impressive win at London Scottish, and they will want get one over on us.
“It’s important that we build on the performance and the result against Jersey and take that momentum into Sunday’s game.
“There are areas that we have to improve on, but the players are working hard as a unit and there is a strong sense of togetherness in the squad.
“We know that all we can do is concentrate on our own performances and not worry about anything else. If we pick up another victory, it keeps us in the mix for a place in the top four.
“The supporters were fantastic in Jersey and it gives every player a sense of pride to represent the Club. We know that we’re a difficult side to face at the Memorial Stadium and, with the crowd behind us; we can play some exciting rugby.
“There’s the added spice that it’s a South-West derby and any game with Plymouth is always a physical, passionate affair.
“We’ll be doing everything we can to pick up another victory and keep the pressure on the sides around us – we need a strong display against Albion for that to happen.”
Tickets for Sunday’s clash are available online, over the phone on 0871 208 2234, or at the Club Store (opening hours Mon-Fri 10am-4pm).
