Goodridge: Pack Gave Us A Platform

Full back praises forwards display after win

Jon Goodridge paid tribute to the forwards after Bristol Rugby recorded a 38-19 victory over London Scottish at the Richmond Athletic Ground.

The full-back scored two second half tries as the visitors notched a deserved bonus point on Saturday.

“We were really good against London Scottish – we knew we had to win and we handled the pressure well,” said Goodridge.

“We played fast in attack, and that was down to the platform that the forwards set for us. Their driving maul was good and the pack really dominated the set-piece and gave us some good go-forward.

“It wasn’t easy conditions to play rugby, but we moved the ball around and handled the situation well. It was great to score five tries and we had chances to put away a few more.”

Bristol travel to unbeaten Newcastle Falcons on the final weekend on the regular RFU Championship season and Goodridge has set his sights on another complete team display.

He added: “We played well last week against Leinster but our start let us down. On Saturday we were out of the traps quickly and it gave us every chance of kicking on and getting the bonus point.

“We needed that performance. All we can do is worry about our own performances, so if we keep winning and show mental strength against Falcons, we’re confident we can get a good result.”
