Gloucestershire Fall To Home Defeat

Gloucestershire 19-24 Cornwall

A late Sam Hocking try gave Cornwall a deserved 24-19 win over Joe Joyce’s Gloucestershire in the Bill Beaumont Cup at Cinderford.

The hosts scored three tries through Will Warden, Llloyd Stapleton and Barney Pascall, but it wasn’t enough to prevent defeat as the Cornishmen came from behind to seal victory on Saturday.

Skipper Warden gave Gloucestershire the perfect start with a try inside the opening two minutes, but Sam Matevesi responded soon after.

Lloyd Stapleton’s effort gave the home side a narrow advantage at the break but, after Craig Williams and Barney Pascall had traded scores, Sam Hocking’s late pushover ensured Cornwall bagged a first win at the Beavis Memorial Ground.
