New signing relishing challenge at Bristol Rugby

Errie Claassens revealed his ambition to help establish Bristol Rugby as an Aviva Premiership side after making the switch to the Memorial Stadium for the 2013/14 campaign.

And the former Worcester Warriors utility back believes everything is in place for the Club to fulfil their potential.

“I feel very positive and confident about joining Bristol,” Claassens told bristolrugby.co.uk. “I spoke to Liam [Middleton] a couple of weeks ago and came to meet him.

“He showed me around the facilities and the training ground and I was so impressed. Everything felt right, so I feel very fortunate. I’m looking forward to my future here.

“Bristol is a Club with huge ambition, a big supporter base and some talented players. They want to be back in the top flight and there’s a big desire to be successful.

“It’s great going to a Club that want to go forward and, as an ambitious individual myself, I’m looking forward to being part of it. To be part of a team that gets promoted would be one of the highlights of my career.”

Having spent time in the RFU Championship with both Rotherham and London Welsh, Claassens is under no illusions about the competitiveness of the league.

He added: “The RFU Championship is such a tough competition. It was difficult when I was playing in it and teams have grown and progressed since then. Every week you have to perform and play well.

“There are some excellent teams in this league and more than a few who are pushing for promotion. There is a lot to play for each week and I’m relishing that challenge.”
