Bennett Joins As Head Of Performance
Ospreys coach joins Bristol Rugby
Mark Bennett will join Bristol Rugby as Head of Performance ahead of the 2014/15 campaign.
“We want our players at Bristol to measure up physically against the best teams in the UK"
The 46 year-old - who leaves his role as Ospreys Head Conditioning Coach to join the Club - will be tasked with overseeing the delivery and development of conditioning programmes for the first team squad.
A former Bristol and Wales flanker, Bennett made twenty-nine appearances between 1998 and 1999, sharing the captaincy with Jon Evans and leading the Club to promotion that year.
Bennett was appointed as the Wales national team Strength & Conditioning Coach in 2004, winning Grand Slams in 2005 and 2008, before joining the Ospreys a year later.
“Mark joins us with a wealth of knowledge about strength development and the conditioning levels required to be successful at the highest level,” Director of Rugby Andy Robinson told bristolrugby.co.uk.
“We want our players at Bristol to measure up physically against the best teams in the UK and Mark’s drive can help us achieve that aim.
“I’d like to extend my gratitude to Lee Douglas who leaves us at the end of the campaign after three seasons spent developing the conditioning and performance levels of our group.”
