Tovey: We Gave It Everything
Centre hurt by final loss
Jack Tovey admitted the players left ‘everything out there’ but it wasn’t enough to overcome a stubborn London Welsh outfit at the Memorial Stadium.
“We are a tough, strong-willed group and we will pick ourselves up, come back next year and go again"
Bristol’s 20-21 loss sees the Club lose out to the Exiles in the battle for promotion to the Aviva Premiership.
“We put everything out there and did everything in our power to overcome that nineteen point deficit,” the centre told bristolrugby.co.uk.
“The boys stepped up compared to last week, but we just didn’t do it at the Kassam and we didn’t give ourselves more of a chance.
“At times, we were on top and had we gone over for the extra try and put the pressure on, they might have crumbled. It wasn’t to be and credit to London Welsh, they kept going until the end.
“It hasn’t settled in yet. It’s heartbreaking because we’re so frustrated that we gave ourselves such a mountain to climb after the first leg.
“We are a tough, strong-willed group and we will pick ourselves up, come back next year and go again.”
