Robinson: We Were Left To Chase Too Much
DOR praises character in loss
Andy Robinson was left to rue a disappointing first leg performance as Bristol failed to overturn a nineteen point deficit at the Memorial Stadium.
“Unfortunately, we weren’t good enough in the first game and that cost us"
The home side led 20-9 midway through the second period, but two late London Welsh tries confirmed victory for the Exiles.
“I thought it was an outstanding performance – the character we showed was excellent, but we were left to chase too much,” the Director of Rugby told bristolrugby.co.uk.
“We left a lot of points out there and had enough opportunities, but we have to be able to take those. It’s something we will look at going into next season.
“We moved the ball well and had good balance. The commitment of the players, backed up by fantastic support, was very positive.
“Unfortunately, we weren’t good enough in the first game and that cost us. This game is about inches and we missed out on those.
“London Welsh defended well and Gordon Ross’ kicking was excellent – so credit to them.
“We have played some good rugby this year and we showed glimpses of what we can do on Wednesday, whereas last week we didn’t. It shows the potential this group has going forward.”
