Danny Wilson Appointed As Forwards Coach
Scarlets Forwards Coach set to join
Danny Wilson has been appointed as Forwards Coach ahead of the 2014/15 campaign, Bristol Rugby confirmed today.
"We are confident that Danny can add value to what we are trying to build"
The Scarlets Forwards Coach joins Andy Robinson’s backroom staff in the summer on a three-year agreement.
A former Head Coach of Wales U20s, Wilson led his side to a third-placed finish in the IRB Junior World Championships in 2012, before finishing runners-up in 2013.
The Weston-Super-Mare born 37 year-old held the position of Forwards Coach at Newport Gwent Dragons for two years prior to the move to the Scarlets.
As well as working extensively with the Wales age groups, Sevens and senior squads, Wilson was Head Coach at London Welsh between 2008 and 2010.
“Danny’s track record speaks for itself – he has a reputation for nurturing players,” Director of Rugby Andy Robinson told bristolrugby.co.uk.
“He has significant experience in Wales – with the national team and the regions - and we are confident that Danny can add value to what we are trying to build at Bristol.
“I’d like to thank Matthew Ferguson, whose hard work over the past two seasons has ensured that the solid foundations have been put in place.”
Commenting on his appointment, Wilson said: “Bristol has traditionally prided itself on having a dominant pack and I’m looking forward to developing that element over the next few years with a talented group of players.”
