Darren Hudson To Join Club
Leinster winger agrees switch
Bristol Rugby have swooped to sign Darren Hudson on a two-year contract from Leinster ahead of the 2014/15 campaign.
“Darren brings explosiveness to the attacking line and his game has really progressed"
The 23 year-old winger has made fifteen appearances for the Irish province in the Rabo Direct PRO12, scoring three tries.
A graduate of the esteemed Leinster Academy, the Hudson earned six caps for Ireland U20s, scoring a hat-trick against Italy.
“We’re pleased to offer Darren a new challenge at Bristol Rugby,” Director of Rugby Andy Robinson told bristolrugby.co.uk.
“Darren brings an explosiveness to the attacking line and his game has really progressed in recent seasons, having cut his teeth with Leinster ‘A’ in the B&I Cup.
“It’s a good opportunity for Darren to stake a claim for a first-team spot and we’re confident he will make an impact at the Club.”
In his first season as part of the senior Leinster squad, Hudson has made seven appearances.
He added: “It wasn't an easy decision to leave Leinster, but I came to Bristol to meet with Andy [Robinson] and Sean [Holley] and see the facilities. I was really impressed.
“Everything is in place for the Club to make the next step, there’s a great culture and a clear vision about where Bristol want to go.
“While I am very grateful to Matt (O’Connor) and all the coaches at Leinster, I’m ambitious and hungry to improve my game and play regular rugby, I’m looking forward to contributing next season.”
