Robinson: We'll Rue Missed Opportunities
DOR calls for more accuracy
Andy Robinson admitted Bristol Rugby will rue missed opportunities in the 22-7 defeat to London Welsh on Sunday.
“The attitude is right and the commitment is there, but we need to be able to take our chances when they come"
The Director of Rugby watched his side lose for the first time since the opening day of the campaign at the Kassam Stadium, but told bristolrugby.co.uk he’d learnt a lot about his team.
“We’re trying to improve the way we are playing the game and while we missed two chances from attacking lineouts, we scored from another," said Robinson.
“The decisions were right, but we need to improve our accuracy. It’s putting ourselves under that pressure that allows us to learn a lot about the team and the way we want to play.
“We had a lot of possession and territory, but ultimately a couple of set-pieces didn’t go our way and we didn’t take our opportunities.
“Credit to London Welsh for the way that they defended. They took their chances well. We want to expand the style we are trying to play and we’ll continue to do that.
“The attitude is right and the commitment is there, but we need to be able to take our chances when they come.
“London Welsh played well and kept us at bay. We’ve got another tough game next week but we need to pick ourselves up quickly.
The support was excellent on Sunday and that spurred the guys on – unfortunately, we lacked the required accuracy.”
