Bristol Rugby Establish Club Values

At the beginning of the 2013/14 campaign, Bristol Rugby Club underwent a team effectiveness programme, delivered by Footdown – a leadership development and training organisation.
All seventy members of the organisation took part in the process, which included a team workshop at the Memorial Stadium, as well as a number of interactive meetings at the Club’s training ground.
CEO Steve Gorvett said: “We wanted to develop the communication and teamwork throughout the team.
“For players to produce winning results in all environments, they need to be able to communicate effectively to build their team and support each other.
“It was also a really effective way of bringing everyone in the organisation closer together.
“The Footdown process was used to make staff feel more empowered, as well as creating a strong sense of belonging for everybody in the organisation.”
As a result of the Footdown process, the leadership group established the following values, that everybody involved with Bristol Rugby Club have agreed upon:
- Embracing change
- Positive engagement
- Desire to succeed together
- Go forward and own it
Throughout the season, bristolrugby.co.uk will be highlighting examples of how the players and staff are living these values, within the Club and out in the local rugby community.
