PREVIEW: Bedford Blues

Bedford seeking first league win

Bedford Blues visit the Memorial Stadium on Sunday looking to end a run of three straight defeats in the Greene King IPA Championship (3pm KO).

Mike Rayer’s side – who reached the play-off finals in 2012/13 – fell to an opening day 14-23 defeat to newly relegated London Welsh.

The Blues went down 14-26 to Jersey a week later, before succumbing to a narrow 28-29 loss versus Leeds Carnegie at Goldington Road.

Bedford scored four tries courtesy of Fox, Hircock, Armes and skipper James Pritchard, but nineteen points from the boot of Leeds fly half Alex Lozowski condemned the home side to defeat.

Following Sunday’s game, Bedford turn their attention to the B&I Cup with fixtures against Rotherham (Oct 12), Llanelli (Oct 19) before a return to league action against Ealing Trailfinders (Oct 27).
