Tristan Roberts believes Bristol Rugby will continue to improve after an impressive victory over Jersey at St Peter.

"We showed that when we bring that accuracy, the points will come"

The bonus point win – Bristol’s second in succession – was sealed when Ryan Edwards flew over early in the second half.

“It’s a massive win for us,” Roberts told “Picking up extra bonus points will be crucial for us as the season progresses.

“We talked a lot about starting well and bringing our tempo to the opposition – we did that on Saturday.

“We executed well which is something that perhaps we haven’t been doing in recent weeks. We showed that when we bring that accuracy, the points will come.

“Jersey are a big, physical side and they showed tremendous fight to come back. We let them back in and were defending right to the end, so that’s something we will need to work on.”

Roberts scored sixteen points in a fine performance against the Channel Islanders, crossing twice in the first period and adding three conversions.

He said: “I was pleased to get on the scoresheet, but obviously that’s just the icing on the cake because the win was the important thing.

“We’re absolutely delighted with the result and we will keep building on our performances.”
