Robinson: We're Learning All The Time
DOR pleased with Jersey display
Andy Robinson insists his players are ‘learning all the time’ after watching Bristol record a 26-17 victory over Jersey on Saturday.
"The character we showed was excellent and that’s why we were able to get the result"
The visitors clinched a bonus point with a four-try display, although a late Jersey fightback ensured a nervy finish to proceedings at St Peter.
“To get points on the board early and to score three tries was really pleasing,” the Director of Rugby told bristolrugby.co.uk.
“The movement of the ball and shape we had was very good. We took our chances on Saturday and that shows how quickly the guys are learning.
“There are two new coaches and it takes time to bed in ideas. But the character we showed was excellent and that’s why we were able to get the result.
“Jersey worked hard to get back in and we let them with our poor discipline – we gave away far too many penalties and that put the pressure back on us.
“In the pouring rain, the last ten minutes would have been tough for all the players, but we were solid in defence and came through it.
“On the whole, I’m pleased with the squad. It was a long journey back to fitness for Bryan [Rennie] so we’re delighted to see him back out there, while it was great to see Nicky [Robinson] make his first appearance too.”
