Bristol face Pirates in season opener

Bristol Rugby kick off the 2013/14 Greene King IPA Championship campaign against Cornish Pirates at Sandy Park.

The season opener - part of the Greene King Big Rugby Weekend - will take place at Exeter Chiefs' Sandy Park and is televised live on Sky Sports HD (3.30pm KO).

Cornish Pirates will be striving for a top four finish and the Mennaye Field outfit - who include former Bristol trio Junior Fatialofa, Darren Barry and Tom Channon among their ranks - will be captained by influential scrum half Gavin Cattle.

The Pirates went down 3-61 to Saracens in a pre-season friendly, although Ian Davies' side did record victories over Worthing (31-5), Bath Uni (58-7) and a Cornish Clubs XV (69-0).

Following Sunday's game, Pirates welcome Leeds Carnegie to Penzance (Sept 20), before facing newly promoted Ealing (Sept 28), and Moseley (Oct 4).
