Scrum half to take up role ahead of new campaign

James Grindal has been appointed Club Captain ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.

The experienced scrum half – who captained the first team on eight occasions last season - was voted for the position by his team-mates.

Grindal was a leading figure in the organisation of the Charity Golf Day in March as well as a number of other off-field activities. The club captaincy role will include being an ambassador for Bristol Rugby, attending community and corporate events and mentoring young players.

Director of Rugby Andy Robinson and the coaching staff will select a separate playing captain who will lead the team on matchday.

“I’m incredibly proud to be taking on the role of Club Captain,” said Grindal. “It’s an honour to have been voted by my peers and I’ll do my utmost to represent Bristol Rugby in a positive fashion.

“This is a fantastic Club to be involved with, and everybody is looking forward to what promises to be an exciting season. I’m dedicated to aiding the growth and development of Bristol Rugby – on and off the field.”
