Gloucestershire Fall At Hertford
Hertfordshire 56-22 Gloucestershire
Gloucestershire were taught a lesson by an impressive Hertfordshire outfit on the weekend, as the defending County Champions ran in eight tries during a 56-22 victory at Hertford RFC.
The visitors secured a try-scoring bonus point, but struggled to contend with Hertfordshire’s dynamic backline who notched twenty-one points in the opening ten minutes.
Hertfordshire raced into an early lead courtesy of Ben Spencer, but were pegged back through Gloucestershire’s Lloyd Stapleton.
The home side hit back with two quickfire scores through James Shanahan and Brett McNamee, while Spencer Sutherland touched down for Gloucestershire in a frenetic first period.
Hertfordshire came out of the blocks quickly after the break as May, Lombaard and Wilson put the result beyond doubt with three converted tries.
Dewi Scourfield capitalised on an interception from replacement wing Reuben Haile on fifty minutes to stem the tide. Haile then scored himself from a second interception on halfway for a bonus-point try for Gloucestershire, which brought the score to 42-22.
The powerful May finished off a fine bout of inter-passing for the next Hertfordshire try before Shanahan completed the scoring following another impressive run.
