Support Breeze In Marathon Challenge

Help Foundation CEO raise vital funds for BRCF

The CEO of the Bristol Rugby Community Foundation, Ben Breeze, will be swapping his office for the open road this month, as the former Wales Sevens international takes on some huge challenges.

Ben and his wife Katie will be taking part in the London marathon, before the 39 year-old joins over 120 cyclists for the annual ‘Break The Cycle’ race.

“Taking on the London Marathon is a daunting task,” admitted Breeze. “I can give all the credit to my wife – she’s always wanted to do it and our online fundraising manager, Emma, kindly gifted us two places.

“I’ve only ever really ran half the length of a rugby field, so to run a marathon could be a bit of a shock, considering I’ve kept training to a minimum too! While Katie has been incredibly diligent and followed a plan, I’m less confident in my own performance.

“We’re raising crucial funds for the Foundation, especially as there is a shortfall in funding this year so we have been working particularly hard to ensure all our programme targets have been met.

"The poor weather has meant we have had to cancel things; pitches around the city have been flooded so it’s really affected us."

‘Break The Cycle’ – a one-hundred mile charity bike ride between Bath, Gloucester and Bristol – is a vital source of funding for the charity.

Breeze added: “We’ve had more riders entered this year than we ever have before, so we’re really excited about this year’s cycle race.

“The key thing now is to support those that have entered with their fundraising and ensure that the event is a big success."
