Winger earns contract after superb debut season

Ryan Edwards has been rewarded with a new contract after an impressive debut season with the Club.

The Academy winger – who has also represented England Students – has made sixteen appearances so far during the campaign, scoring six tries.

The 21 year-old burst onto the scene with a fine try on his maiden RFU Championship outing, touching down during the opening day defeat to Newcastle Falcons.

“This extension is a testament to the effort and desire that Ryan has shown throughout the campaign,” said Director of Rugby Andy Robinson.

“Ryan has exceeded all expectations and is improving every time he takes the field. He’s an exciting player to watch: a dangerous runner in broken play and one of the hardest working individuals in the backline.”

Currently in his third year at University West of England, the Education Studies student made his first team debut in the B&I Cup versus Cornish Pirates in 2011.

Edwards added: “I’m delighted to sign a new contract at Bristol Rugby – this season has been a fantastic learning curve for me, both on and off the field.

“I want to keep working hard and improving and I’m enjoying every game I play. There’s a positive environment at the Club and I’m looking forward to playing my part.”
