Fly half praises teammates after Pool One win

Tristan Roberts paid tribute to his teammates after Bristol’s stunning 61-12 victory over Cardiff on Friday.

The fly half delivered a man-of-the-match performance with a twenty-one point haul, including a sublime solo try.

Liam Middleton’s side finish top of Pool One in the B&I Cup and can look forward to a home quarter final – a target at the beginning of the campaign.

“Back in pre-season we talked about this being one of our targets,” said Roberts. “We want to compete on two fronts – the B&I Cup and the Championship – so we’re in a healthy position right now.

“The backline were on the money on Friday – they were exceptional. The pack gave us quick ball and the execution was good. It was an emphatic performance and showed what we can do when we move the ball around.

“I’m happy with the overall performance and obviously delighted to get a try as well. I don’t score many, so when it opened up for me it was nice!

“We have such a competitive squad here and there are players, like myself, who might not be getting the chances week in week out, so we’re chomping at the bit.

“When you have an opportunity to play, you want to make a statement and prove yourself with a good performance. We’re all hungry to be involved.”
