Buxton: 'Bristol Fashion' Excites Me
Gloucester stalwart relishing new challenge
Peter Buxton has vowed to help Bristol Rugby return to the Aviva Premiership after confirming his move to the Memorial Stadium ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.
And the Gloucester stalwart – Middleton’s third signing of the year – told bristolrugby.co.uk about his excitement at joining the Club.
“Liam [Middleton] introduced me to his vision and to ‘Bristol Fashion’, I really bought into the idea,” said the 34 year-old.
“I like the idea of linking traditional values of a Club to the modern game and that’s what Bristol are trying to do.
“I grew up in Cheltenham and played against Bristol many times. Like Gloucester, it’s a proper rugby club, a traditional club with a passionate fanbase.
“It was a hard decision to leave Gloucester, I had eleven great years there. But I’m excited for my future, I wouldn’t have taken this decision lightly, it had to be the right Club.
“Bristol are ambitious and I am looking forward to contributing to what they are trying to achieve. I have a lot of experience and games under my belt so perhaps I’ll be able to pass on a bit of knowledge to the other guys.
“Hopefully that will pay dividends because I want to play in the Aviva Premiership with Bristol either next season or the season after.
“I’ve spoken a lot about the RFU Championship to some of the guys who have played in it at Gloucester. It’s a tough competition and a difficult league to get out of.
“The target is obviously the top flight – everything is in place to achieve this goal so hopefully I can play my part.”
