Bristol Ladies Enjoy International Success
Ladies feature in England Six Nations victory
A number of Bristol Ladies represented their country last weekend as England enjoyed a stunning start to their Six Nations campaign.
Amber Reed, Kay Wilson, Kate Newton and Sally Tuson all featured in the 76-0 demolition of Scotland, with Reed, Wilson and Tuson (2) touching down.
Head Coach Gary Street’s side notched up twelve tries in total with two more from Sarah Hunter, two from Ceri Large, two from Abigail Chamberlain and one apiece from Hannah Gallagher and Rochelle Clark.
Meanwhile, Bristol’s Claire Molloy helped Ireland kick off with a narrow 12-10 victory over Wales, who included Rachel Taylor and Elinor Snowsill in their side. Ireland hooker Gillian Bourke’s late effort proved the difference in a tight game at Aberavon.
In Houston, Texas, an England Women Sevens side featuring Marlie Packer (pictured) was crowned World Series round two champions, defeating the USA 29-12 in the final.
Barry Maddocks’ side – who are coached by Bristol’s Susie Appleby - matched their male counterparts Sevens success in New Zealand with a string of impressive results, defeating the Black Ferns twice over two days.
