Cortes Re-Signs For New Campaign
Prop to remain with the Club for 2013/14 season
Gaston Cortes will remain at the Memorial Stadium for the 2013/14 campaign after extending his contract at the Club.
The Argentinian international has made eight appearances for Bristol Rugby this season, following a debut versus Cardiff in the B&I Cup in October 2012.
Cortes sustained a calf injury in the victory over Bridgend, but is now back in contention for first team selection.
Head Coach Liam Middleton said: “Gaston has really impressed us during his short time with the Club. We feel he has made significant progress since his arrival and I’m very positive about what he can do for Bristol Rugby.
“Gaston has tremendous work-rate and he has picked up our systems quickly. Tighthead props who have represented their country are invaluable at this level, so we’re delighted that he has agreed to stay with us next season.”
The 27 year-old - who has made four appearances for Argentina following a debut in 2011 – is excited about the prospect of staying with Bristol.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time with Bristol so far, so I jumped at the chance to commit my future here,” explained Cortes. “It’s a fantastic environment to play rugby in, and I am happy with my development under Matt Ferguson [Scrum Coach].
“There is plenty to look forward to, but first my focus remains on helping Bristol to achieve a place in the RFU Championship top four.”
