Channon: We're Proud Of Cup Record
Hooker says Bristol will be ready for Cup challenge
Tom Channon is targeting a sixth straight B&I Cup victory when Bristol Rugby take on Cardiff on Sunday (3pm KO).
Liam Middleton’s side are four points clear of Ulster Ravens at the top of Pool One, knowing that one more point will guarantee a place in the quarter-finals.
And the hooker, who put in a man-of-the-match performance in the win at Arms Park, insists the players are determined to seal qualification at the Memorial Stadium.
“It’s going to a really tough game on Sunday,” admitted Channon. “We’re proud of our record in the B&I Cup so far this season and we want to go through the pool stages without a defeat.
“The competition has been good for us, because it’s given us an opportunity to build momentum and take some form back into the RFU Championship.
“We’ve talked about taking one game at a time, and that continues on Sunday. We’ve been solely focusing on Cardiff and preparing well in training for the challenge.
“They’re a good side and ran us close at Arms Park earlier in the season. We’ve come a long way since then and we’ll go into Sunday’s game full of confidence.
“We know that if we play the sort of rugby that we’re capable of, we’ll be in a good position to qualify for the next round of the B&I Cup.”
