Bristol haven't won at Mennaye Field since 2010

Bristol Rugby face Cornish Pirates on New Year’s Day looking for a seventh straight win in all competitions (2pm KO).

Liam Middleton’s men haven’t won at Mennaye Field since May 2010, when Bristol recorded a 60-15 rout of the Penzance outfit in Pool A of the RFU Championship play-offs.

Seven members of the current squad featured that day, with James Merriman and Luke Eves grabbing two tries apiece, while Adrian Jarvis kicked four penalties.

The other four players were Redford Pennycook, Mariano Sambucetti, Wayne Thompson and Roy Winters.

Cornish Pirates lay in sixth place, with six wins and four defeats to their name so far. Ian Davies’ men went down 29-17 at the Memorial Stadium in September, when Luke Eves and Matt Williams crossed for Bristol Rugby.

Pirates – who have former Bristol centre Junior Fatialofa and Academy product Darren Barry among their ranks – ground out a 9-5 victory over Plymouth at Brickfields on Boxing Day.

After Tuesday’s clash, Pirates turn their attentions to the B&I Cup, with clashes against Dundee High (Jan 13), Carmarthen (Jan 19) before a trip to Newcastle Falcons on Friday, 25 January.
