Glynn: We're Ready For Pirates Test
Lock forward relishing clash at Mennaye Field
Ben Glynn expects one of the toughest tests of the RFU Championship campaign so far, when Bristol Rugby face Cornish Pirates on New Year’s Day (2pm KO).
Bristol haven’t tasted victory at Mennaye Field since a 60-15 win during the 2009/10 play-offs, losing on three occasions since.
“We don’t have a good record at the Mennaye in recent seasons,” admitted the lock forward. “It’s one of the most difficult places to win in this league – the pitch is narrow and the crowd are vocal.
“It’s up to us to change our fortunes and we’ll go there full of confidence. We’re on a good run of form right now and forcing our way into the top four last weekend is a huge psychological boost.
“We know that there is a lot of hard work to come and that starts against Pirates on New Year’s Day. We’ll pay them plenty of respect because we know exactly what they are capable of; it’s got all the ingredients for a big encounter.
“We wanted two wins over the Christmas period and we’ve managed to grind out one, now we have to raise our performance levels down in Penzance.
“We always have a big following to come and support us at the Mennaye, and hopefully on New Year’s Day we’ll give them something to cheer about and start 2013 on a high.”
