Mama: We Want To Extend Unbeaten Run
Flanker believes there is 'feel-good' factor
Marco Mama insists Bristol Rugby must continue their recent winning form to continue building the feel-good factor around the Club.
Bristol have yet to taste defeat in the B&I Cup so far this season and could seal a fourth successive victory in the competition with victory over Bridgend on Friday (7.45pm KO).
And the flanker - who made his first start last weekend since sustaining an injury in September - admits that competition for places is as fierce as he can remember during his time at the Club.
“Everybody is looking forward to Friday night,” said Mama. “We’re on a bit of a roll at the moment and there’s a real focus to carry that on this weekend and then into the RFU Championship, too.
“We’ve talked a lot about momentum and not looking too far ahead. That’s worked really effectively for us – we’re treating each game with equal importance and taking small steps.
“We can’t afford to take our foot off the pedal, because there’s still a lot that we want to put right. Competition for places all over the park, but especially in the back row, is massive so we know that we need to perform to a high standard every time we have the shirt.
“The supporters always have a big impact at the Memorial Stadium and it’s no coincidence that we enjoy Friday night rugby so much. Hopefully they’ll be behind us in numbers again this weekend.”
