Pennycook: We Owe Supporters A Performance

Flanker says Bristol are desperate to return to form

07th November 2012 published by Tom Tainton

Redford Pennycook admits the players are desperate to return to form when Jersey visit the Memorial Stadium on Sunday (3pm KO).

And the flanker, one of Bristol’s shining lights this season, believes the supporters are owed a big performance.

“We’re a proud group of individuals so Sunday’s defeat hurt us as a collective,” explained Pennycook.

“Everybody at the Club was hugely disappointed with the result and the manner of the defeat. We’re a tight-knit unit and we must shoulder the responsibility for our performances.

“We can’t afford any more slip-ups now. That loss has to be the catalyst for us to turn our league campaign around.

“The win over Bedford showed the potential we have as a team. It’s important to find some consistency now and start playing to the standards that we have set ourselves.

“The supporters have been brilliant all season, so we owe them a big display against Jersey on Sunday. We’ve been chomping at the bit in training all week to get out there and show how much it means to us to play for the Club.”
