Argentinian International prop joins the Club

Bristol Rugby have snapped up Argentinian international Gaston Cortes ahead of the 2012/13 RFU Championship season.

The hugely promising tighthead prop, who has four international caps under his belt since a debut versus Chile in 2011, becomes Liam Middleton’s tenth signing of the summer.

The 26 year-old also represented Argentina Jaguars in the 2012 IRB Nations Cup – scoring in the victory over Portugal.

“Gaston gained some credibility following his performances in the IRB Nations Cup in June,” said Head Coach Liam Middleton. “We were impressed with his technical ability and work rate.

“He has international experience and plenty of potential to develop – Gaston also brings the right type of mentality and attitude to the Club. That’s an important element in us investing in him.”

Cortes added: “I am very excited about the move. I spoke to Liam [Middleton] a lot throughout the summer and he told me what he expects from a Bristol Rugby player.

“This is a great Club with proud traditions. I am looking forward to playing in England and in the RFU Championship next season.”

Gaston Cortes' signing is subject to visa requirements, which the Club expect to go through within the next ten days.
