Grieve: We've Made Huge Progress
Captain says players can be proud of their efforts this season
Bristol have made significant progress during the RFU Championship 2011/12 season, according to skipper Iain Grieve.
Despite Sunday’s semi-final defeat to Cornish Pirates, the flanker believes the players can be proud of their efforts.
“From where we came from last season, this is a huge step forward,” said Grieve. “There are plenty of positives to take away from this campaign. We haven’t lost at the Memorial Stadium all season and we’re proud of that record.
“We won the regular season league and we topped Pool A, conceding the least amount of points and scoring the most. There’s definitely things we will take from the season.”
The players now depart for a summer break and will return for pre-season training in mid-June.
The back-rower commented: “The next five weeks of off-season will hurt, but when we return for pre-season we’ll be ready to go again.
“Everybody in the squad played their part this season and there have been plenty of highs and lows.
“On another day, with the bounce of the ball, we could have scored a few more against Pirates but we will look forward now and come back stronger and even more determined.”
