Middleton: There Is More To Come From Us

Head Coach hails 'Bristol Fashion' victory over Doncaster

12th March 2012 published by Tom Tainton

Liam Middleton believes there is more to come from Bristol Rugby after watching his side open their play-off account in style, storming to a 65-3 win over Doncaster Knights on Friday.

Bristol scored nine tries, with Ross Johnston grabbing a hat-trick and Jack Tovey (2), Luke Eves, Fautua Otto and Ben Glynn also adding scores.

“The boys can be proud of themselves,” said the Head Coach. “There were nerves coming into this game and rightly so.

“I’m pleased with the performance – we executed our game plan that we had worked on during the week.

“We showed good discipline not to concede away from home and we dealt with Doncaster’s physicality in the right way.”

Middleton praised the manner of the victory – Bristol’s biggest of the season and a Club league record.

He added: “I would have been happy with any win but the manner that we did it was on the way to Bristol Fashion.

“We scored from close-range through power play and we scored when we moved the ball around. There was a good balance.

“We will take confidence from this but by no means are we the finished article. These are one-off games and there are aspects of our performance that we need to chip away at.

“There is more to come from us and I’m very pleased that the guys stuck to the values of the Club on the pitch.”
