Chairman's Statement: Lansdown To Become Majority Shareholder

Steve Lansdown agrees to become majority shareholder

I am delighted to confirm that Stephen Lansdown has agreed to become the majority shareholder in Bristol Rugby Club.

The transaction has been concluded and is only subject to final RFU ratification.

Steve has in fact helped in supporting the club financially for a number of years now, and his full commitment to the club will now give us much needed stability going forward.

We have already seen the benefit of this with our ability to strengthen our squad this season, giving us the maximum opportunity to win the RFU Championship, and hopefully aid our return to the Aviva Premiership.

Going forward, it will very much be business as usual. I will continue as Chairman, with Steve Gorvett as Chief Executive and we will continue to play at the Memorial Stadium, in accordance with our current arrangements.

Steve Lansdown has a passion for developing sport in Bristol and is already the majority shareholder in Bristol City Football Club.

I look forward to working with him to make Bristol Rugby Club successful.
