Mr Richard Nelson was appointed a consultant neurosurgeon in Bristol 1990. His special interests include the management of spinal disorders in elite athletes. He acts as a consultant to many of the premier and championship RFCs, the RFU and other national sporting bodies. Nelson is currently the President of the Society of British Neurological Surgeons.
Rob Jagger has been consultant senior lecturer in restorative dentistry at Bristol Dental Hospital since 2005. He has supported the Dental Hospital and School’s promotion of good practice in the prevention and management of sports-related dental injuries.
Before moving to Bristol he worked at Cardiff's University Dental Hospital and was an Honorary Dentist to the Welsh Rugby Union and a member of its Medical Advisory Committee.
Vicky Fisher qualified as a nurse in 2001 and worked in Frenchay coronary care unit for a small time before moving to Spire Bristol where she has remained ever since.
Vicky Fisher’s background started in Outpatients where she climbed the ranks from a junior nurse to become the Sister. She then left Outpatients to become the hospital Infection Control nurse specialist also responsible for the Quality and Clinical governance.
Her latest role addition has been to also take the title of Allied Health Professional Manager responsible for Diagnostic Imaging, Outpatients, Pre-assessment and Physiotherapy.
Mr Rhys Thomas is a specialist in adult foot and ankle surgery. He has extensive experience in this field, having been a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon for over 12 years.
Mr Thomas regularly treats sporting injuries and this is recognised by being a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine. He is Honorary Surgeon to the Welsh Rugby Union, Cardiff Blues and Cardiff City. He also treats players from across the Welsh rugby regions and other sporting disciplines.
Jonathan Webb is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in knee surgery and Sports Medicine.
A former England international and Bristol Rugby player, Webb works in his own multi-disciplinary Sports Medicine Clinic in Bristol, and is also a founder of the Fortius Clinic in London.
Webb - who qualified from the University of Bristol in 1987 - focuses exclusively on knees, approximately 75% soft tissue and 25% TKR/unicompartmental work.
