MATCH DAY REPORTClifton RFC vs Bristol Rugby

Bristol Rugby 70-21 Clifton RFC

Bristol Rugby ran in twelve tries in a comprehensive 70-21 victory at Cribbs Causeway on Tuesday.

Ryan Edwards and Elias Caven notched hat-tricks, while Auguy Slowik (2), Tim Turner (2), Mark Cooke and Ellis Genge also crossed for the visitors.

Ross Johnston was yellow carded early on, but undeterred by the numerical disadvantage; Bristol went in front courtesy of some individual brilliance from Lucas Slowik.

The impressive Academy centre carved an opening from eighty metres before feeding Ryan Edwards to dot down in the corner.

And the visitors doubled their lead when Ellis Genge bulldozed his way through three Clifton defenders to muscle over for an unconverted score.

Having seized control of proceedings, Auguy Slowik became the third Academy player to touch down, leaping highest to collect a bouncing ball close to the line. Sheedy struck the conversion to put Bristol 0-17 up midway through the first period.

Rupert Freestone was sin-binned before U18s’ winger Elias Caven showed blistering pace to collect his own kick ahead and fly over in the corner.

Ryan Edwards added his second of the evening before the half-time interval as Bristol went in with a commanding 0-29 lead at the break.

Andy Robinson’s men began the second period in similar attacking fashion, crossing for two tries in quick succession as Ryan Edwards completed his hat-trick, before Elias Caven crossed in the corner for his second.

A flurry of tries followed, as Gavin Curry and Mark Cooke exchanged converted efforts, before Dan Wells went in under the posts to reduce Clifton’s deficit to 14-46 on the hour mark.

In a second half played at breakneck speed, Auguy Slowik was next to cross, profiting from Ryan Edwards’ knock down to add his second try.

Clifton refused to buckle and cut the arrears once again as James Mackay skipped his way over from fifteen metres, before converting his own score.

Bristol’s tenth try came when replacement scrum half Tim Turner capitalized on Elias Caven’s dart down the outside channel to cross for an unconverted score.

And the U18s winger sealed his hat-trick moments later, capping an impressive club debut for the SGS Filton flyer.

Tim Turner added a late try to round off a comprehensive 21-70 victory.
