James Letherby joined the Bristol Rugby Academy at the beginning of the 2011/12 season.

Joining as part of the UWE initiative with the club, Letherby impressed during pre-season training. The former Filton College centre learned his trade at Weston Hornets before representing Somerset at U16 and U18 level.

During his time at Filton College, Letherby was a first team regular, excelling in the sevens and fifteens format of the game.
