Liam Middleton

Liam Midleton - Academy Manager

Liam started his coaching career in Natal, South Africa before joining the Hartpury Rugby Academy. From there, he went on to become the Talent ID Coach for the RFU before joining Bristol at the start of 2009/10.

He also coached the Zimbabwe 7s team for four years on the IRB World 7s series and to the RWC 7s in 2009 where his team were Bowl Winners.

Matt Salter

Matthew Salter - Academy Coach

A familiar face amongst Bristol players, management and supporters alike, Matt has played for Bristol Rugby since 1999.

During his playing career, he was named Club Captain for four season before retiring at the end of the 08/9 season.

Matt took up the Academy Coach position at the Club at the start of the 09/10 season.

Andy Petts

Andy Petts - Strength & Conditioning

Working closely with Liam and Matt, Andy is responsible for the strength and conditioning of the Academy players.

He is also the strength and conditioning coach for Clifton RFC.

Andrew graduated from UWIC and has a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science and is in the middle of being certified by the NSCA.

Directions / Location


Directions to Bristol Rugby c/o Clifton RFC.


1. Exit M5, Junction 17 signposted Bristol West/ Cribbs Causeway A4018


2. At bottom of slip road follow signs marked Bristol West A4018 (use one of the two right hand lanes)


3. At first roundabout take 2nd exit (straight on)


4. Continue on dual carriageway past traffic lights to roundabout at bottom of hill


5. For coaches move into outside lane in preparation for the up-coming roundabout


6. Coaches can cross the roundabout for and take 2nd exit where the entrance to the car park will be on your right


7. For cars take 1st exit (still signposted Bristol West A4018) and continue on dual carriageway through 2 sets of pedestrian crossings to roundabout making your way into outside lane


8. Proceed around roundabout (360 degrees) taking the 3rd exit doubling back in the direction you have previously travelled.


9. Move to the nearside lane and take marked left hand slip road (signposted Clifton RFC).


10. Move into right hand lane (one-way road) and take first exit on right. Turn right but be aware of bus lane joining from right


11. Take first left into Clifton RFC car park
