FUTURE STARS TAG RUGBY PROGRAMME

The Bristol Rugby Community Foundation has been THE provider of TAG rugby for Bristol City, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset Council, delivering programmes to over 8,000 primary school young people over the past three years. Bristol Rugby has a proven track record for delivering the highest quality TAG rugby programmes throughout the ‘Bristol Rugby’ catchment area.

The Bristol Rugby Community Foundation 5 week TAG rugby programme has been developed over the past 4 years and utilises a ‘game-based approach’ to learning which has proven to be highly engaging for young people by involving all members of the class throughout sessions (as opposed to ‘standing in lines doing drills’). At Bristol Rugby Community Foundation we achieve the highest possible delivery quality by using a 2 coach delivery model which ensures each class will benefit from a maximum of a 15:1 player:coach ratio (2 coaches per class of 30 young people max).

The Foundation have also used the engagement power of our rugby programmes to ‘more effectively’ deliver a variety of secondary educational inputs, the ‘Future Stars’ TAG rugby programme has the option to include either a Healthy Schools or Numeracy element, which directly contribute towards each school’s OFSTED, Every Child Matters and ‘Healthy Schools’ criteria.

At the end of the programme Bristol Rugby Community Foundation will stage a festival that will provide a sustainable pathway for any young people who maybe new to rugby union to continue their involvement in the sport. We always look to stage our end of term festival at their nearest accreditted local rugby club where the mini/jnr chair can explain how young players can come and participate on a regular basis long after the programme has finished.
